We have been to Seward several times, and almost every time we make a little treat of visiting Apollo Restaurant. This restaurant is a Mediterranean restaurant focusing on Greek and Italian foods. It is located in a convenient location within downtown Seward, and also within walking distance of the Seward Waterfront and the Alaska Sea Life Center.
Location & Ambience of Apollo Restaurant
Apollo Restaurant is located at 229 4th Avenue in Seward, Alaska. While nestled in a small Alaskan town, the restaurant does not have an Alaska feel. It is decorated fairly modernly with really pictures and decor from (or about) Greece. My kids always greatly enjoy pointing out the novelties within the restaurant.
Our Favorite Dishes
We are creatures of habit. Which means we order the same thing every time we go. We get a large (16″) pizza with pepperoni and Italian sausage. It is definitely one of the best pizzas we’ve ever had in Alaska. We also occasionally get their meat calzone, which is also absolutely delicious. Their french fries are also quite fresh. We took my Mom to this restaurant once, and she ordered their chowder and said it was good. We have also been told that their gyro pizza is very good, though we have yet to try it.
Bring Your Own Fish
If you happen to enjoy fishing and have caught some recently during your time in Seward, you can bring your fish in to Apollo Restaurant to cook it for you. While we’ve never tried this option, it is quite a unique idea if you are so inclined!
A Worthwhile Family Restaurant
For Alaska, the prices of Apollo Restaurant are quite reasonable. We have enjoyed their food and service every time we have visited (both in the summer and winter). And if your kids are anything like ours, they likely enjoy pizza and french fries. So it’s a great place to stop by with kids.
